Pickleball in Durant, Mississippi

Durant does not currently have a documented dedicated pickleball court or recurring public program. The closest established outdoor option is Jason Niles Park in Kosciusko, while Magnolia Pickleball in Gluckstadt offers a full service club with indoor and outdoor courts.

Kosciusko works well for a casual group seeking public park play. Magnolia is better for lessons, frequent open play, reservations, and year-round comfort. Those two choices give Durant players both a simple regional court and a more complete pickleball facility.

Where to Play Pickleball Near Durant

Jason Niles Park

Jason Niles Park at 501 Knox Road in Kosciusko opened a new lighted pickleball court in September 2025 beside resurfaced tennis courts. The park can support multiple outdoor pickleball layouts using the shared court area, with marked lines and nets available. This is the most convenient public option for a Durant foursome that wants to stay within the Holmes and Attala County area.

Magnolia Pickleball

Magnolia Pickleball at 547 Church Road in Gluckstadt has three indoor and four outdoor professional grade courts. The club offers membership and no commitment drop-in play, with showers, lockers, a viewing area, a pro shop, and 24 hour access for members. Indoor courts make this the strongest weather protected option.

Choosing Between the Two

Jason Niles Park suits a self contained group that values public outdoor play and a shorter drive. Magnolia suits players who want a dedicated club, regular programming, court reservations, and a mix of indoor and outdoor surfaces. Court access is not the same as organized play at Jason Niles, while Magnolia schedules open play and staffed activities.

Pickleball Lessons and Beginner Play

Magnolia has a full time professional who offers private and group lessons. Its permanent court setup, pro shop, and mix of indoor and outdoor courts make it a strong starting point for new players. Beginners can learn scoring, serving, kitchen rules, doubles positioning, and basic shot selection before entering open play.

Additional instructors serving central Mississippi are listed in the Coaches section. Jason Niles Park works well for follow-up practice with a familiar partner, especially serving, returning, dinking, and transition drills. A Durant group can share a lesson at Magnolia and then continue practicing closer to home in Kosciusko.

Open Play, Leagues, and Events

No recurring league or open play schedule is published for Durant. Magnolia runs open play five days a week and also hosts tournaments, mixers, and special events throughout the year. That schedule is useful for solo players and anyone who wants opponents already grouped by an organized facility.

Jason Niles Park is primarily a public court setting. It can handle a casual paddle queue or small round robin, but players generally assemble their own group. Larger competitive events are more likely at Magnolia because seven courts, staff, and indoor space allow play to continue despite changing weather.

Pickleball for Visitors

Visitors traveling with partners can use Jason Niles Park for the nearest established outdoor play. Nets and lighting reduce the amount of equipment a group needs, though paddles and balls should remain part of the travel bag.

Solo visitors will find more dependable player activity at Magnolia. Drop-in access is available without a membership, and scheduled open play provides partners and opponents. The club also offers lessons and complete amenities for a longer session. Durant itself should not be treated as a guaranteed drop-in destination because no local public court or recurring group is established.
